Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. The reporting she did included plenty of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, tax reform and the budget in addition to the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively with the president Reagan during summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
